Boating is a time for you to leave your worries at the dock and enjoy the open water with friends and family. A nice sunny day on the hook, a local sandbar or tubing can create some real great memories. These same days on the water can turn into someone's worst nightmare in the blink of an eye.
What could go wrong? A fast moving power boat with a spinning propeller, no brakes, wind and a moving current, not to mention hundreds of other people in the same situation. It’s amazing we don’t see more accidents than we do every year.
Every year 2 of the top 5 leading causes of boating accidents are Operator Inattention and Operator Inexperience ( Official USCG Boating Statistics). The last thing you want to become is a statistic.
Your first step is getting your boaters safety card:
Every person born on or after January 1st 1988 must take and pass an approved boater safety course to legally operate a vessel with 10 or more horsepower in the state of Florida.
With technology these days getting a boating safety card is easier than ever.
There are a number of approved online courses but the Boat U.S. Foundation offers this service for free. All you need is an internet connected device and a few hours of your time.
Your next step is to gain the confidence needed to make quick, definitive, and safe decisions when you least expect it:
Sandy Lin Charters offers on the water training in Palm Beach County. Captain Mario is a licensed United States Coast Guard Master Captain and will help you gain the confidence you need to safely operate and navigate a vessel through the waters of South Florida or anywhere else you plan to travel. Whether you are a first time boater or just looking to gain a bit more confidence we can design a training package that will set you up for a lifetime of safe boating.
We can design a private on the water training program for young first time boaters, adult first time boaters, new vessel owners, more experienced boaters looking to advance their skills and more.
We can provide the vessel or you can learn at the helm of your own vessel.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have or to discuss a program that works best for you.
Happy boating!
